SLS Customer Service answers questions you may have about our operations and assists you in finding material from the archival collections.

Customer Service in Helsinki is open Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Wednesdays, we are of assistance until 6 p.m. (telephone switchboard closes at 4 p.m.).

Customer Service in Vaasa is open Tuesday–Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Changes to opening hours

SLS Customer Service closes at 2 p.m. on:      

  • 30 April, Walpurgis Night (if a weekday)
  • The day before Midsummer Eve
  • 23 December (if a weekday)
  • 31 December (if a weekday)
  • Maundy Thursday

Ritarikatu 5. The main entrance is at street level on the Kirkkokatu side. There is an accessible entrance with a lift on Ritarikatu.

Vaasa

Archive Services

At sls.finna.fi you can see the physical location of our collections and find information about SLS’ archive material. The site also includes digitised material.

Most of the collections in the archive can be freely ordered and studied, but permission is required for some collections. Staff will help you in such cases.

Please read our archive rules regarding permission to publish, copy, photograph etc.

To order archival materials or books in Helsinki

About half of our collections are located at Ritarikatu 5. If the collection is located here, you can order archive material in person at customer services. Materials are retrieved from the archives between 9 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. Materials and books to be studied in the evenings must be ordered in advance.

Some of our material in Helsinki is located at the National Library of Finland. Please contact the National Library of Finland’s customer services at xx-revx@uryfvaxv.svif.iknisleh@kire-kk .

Materials are retrieved from the Swedish Theatre archives on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.. These materials are delivered to customers from midday onwards.

Materials are retrieved from the Sarvlax archives by agreement

Looking for a book? It might be stored off-site. Please contact us at least 24 hours in advance.
