SLS plays an active role in showcasing and supporting the diversity of literature published in Swedish in Finland.
We provide printing and translation grants to publishers, associations, and organizations. We also offer residency scholarships for writers, along with other forms of support for literary production.
You’ll find links to detailed information about grants and application deadlines here.
Finland-Swedish literature is also celebrated through a range of literary awards, particularly at our annual ceremony.
SLS leads the joint initiative that enables Finland-Swedish publishers and producers to take part in book fairs. We are responsible for the Swedish-language section at the Helsinki Book Fair, including coordination and programming.
We also support Swedish-speaking schools by providing them with free entrance tickets to the fair.
At the Gothenburg Book Fair, we manage both the Finland-Swedish stand and the stage known as Lilla Finland.
This work is carried out in collaboration with several co-funders, including The Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, Amos Anderson Fund, The foundation Brita Maria Renlunds minne sr., Svenska folkskolans vänner, and Tre Smeder.
We produce the annual Finland-Swedish book catalogue, published every autumn, which helps increase visibility for publishers and other stakeholders in the literary field.
In collaboration with the Swedish magazine Vi Läser, we also promote literature published in Swedish in Finland through a yearly special issue.
