Committees and Juries

The Society of Swedish Literature engages a broad range of expertise in its prize and scholarship committees, editorial boards, steering groups, committees, scholarly committees, and monitoring groups. In total, SLS engages over 200 experts in the humanities and social sciences in its representative bodies, and also in its financial and asset management.

 

The Research Committee is an advisory body and forum for discussion on research matters. Among other things, the Committee develops guidelines for calls for applications and evaluations of research projects and collection, publication and outline projects, and makes suggestions to the Scholarly Board concerning which projects SLS should finance.

The Publishing Committee develops guidelines for SLS’s publishing activities. The Committee appoints reviewers and accepts the publication of manuscripts for both printed and digital books. The Committee also approves the annual publication plans and monitors publication sales and marketing reports, and other reporting. The Publishing Committee is appointed by the Scholarly Board.

Scolarly Commmittees

The scholarly committees are a key part of SLS’s research activities and provide important links to universities in Finland and abroad. The committees bring together a broad range of scholarly expertise and their members constitute an important link to the universities.

The committees provide suggestions for the research grants, initiate publications and research projects and hold symposia and lectures.

Prize Juries

On the advice of the General Prize Jury, the SLS Scholarly Board determines the award of literary prizes at the Society’s annual celebrations on 5 February. Both literary and scholarly works are awarded prizes.

The Councillor of State Mauritz Hallsberg’s prize is awarded annually on 16 May to a prominent researcher who has done outstanding research, originally published in Swedish in Finland.
